Demonstration tickets are available for $7 each to registered attendees. Pay for 8 tickets at time of registration. Additional tickets available on site.
Hands on classes run 2 to 2 ½ hours long at $75 each.

Cake Shack open to public Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-5pm.
Vendor Hall opens Friday afternoon. Preview Thursday 6:00pm-7:30pm.
First Timers & Potential Members
If you are not currently a member and would like to register for convention as a member we encourage you to JOIN NOW! By paying an annual membership of $60, you will be eligible to register as an ICES member and save $140, plus you get all the rest of the benefits of membership all year long! You can join by visiting the membership page at ices.org. After you have sent in your membership information you will receive an e-mail back (in 1-5 days) with your membership number. You will need your MEMBERSHIP NUMBER to register for convention in member status.
Members: Your ICES membership ID number and membership expiration date will be required for your convention registration.

Parking is $14 per day.
You can book your hotel room anywhere you like, however since the convention is being held at the Town & Country Resort, this is the ideal place to stay for convience.

Gum Paste Flowers & More Class
Lori Mefford of Elegant Cake Creations will be teaching this 6 hour class in Gilbert, AZ.

Complete a Christmas themed cake by the end of the day. We’ll be making gum paste Poinsettia, holly with berries, and filler flowers. We’ll be doing some piping and maybe some stenciling if time permits. Although this cake has a holiday theme the techniques can be used for all gum paste flowers. I’m all about using inexpensive tools and things you have around the house. Come and learn a few tricks. I’ll even show you how to make some great flowers using Wilton cutters!
This month's meeting was conducted by VP, Carol Antes as Vicki was out sick. New President, Breanne Kealey and VP, Sherry Cross for 2010 were voted in. Paulette spoke about the Christmas party and cookie exchange. Raffles were won by June, Sherry, Al, Agnes, BarbaraW., Paulette, Lien and Julie.
Judy Sesler's demo was talking about a 3D CT Scanner cake she made for her co workers and sharing items she bought at the ICES convention including jewel molds, craft gun, floral tape cutter, pleat molds, daisy cutters, rope molds and impression sheets used to make gelatin bows.
Breanna shared that she won a baby shower cake contest online at cutestbabyshowerideas.com.

The 5th Annual Cake & Sugar Art Show of Arizona will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010!! Save the date! The show will be held at the Glendale Civic Center. Open to all skill levels of decorators, juniors, teens and adults. Best of Show Grand Prize is $250!! There will be a Specialty Wedding Cake competition, a Live Cake Challenge, demos, raffle prizes and baskets and vendors. At this month's meeting Vicki spoke about electing new board members. Theresa Bunch will remain as club secretary. Michele Gillette will remain as club treasurer. Breanna Kealey and Sherry Cross have been nominated for president and VP. Voting will take place at the November meeting.
Barbara Ashford's demo was making a kitty litter cake. She used a new litter pan for this project. Using crumbled yellow cake, she sprinkled that into the litter pan. Covered it with vanilla pudding and crushed nilla wafers of which half the wafers were colored green. Using Rolo candies, she shaped them for well....you know. :) The scoop was added for the final touch.
The Christmas party will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, December 7th. All members who plan on attending should let Paulette Karras know right away. Same for those wishing to participate in the cookie exchange.
Theresa Bunch shared about her win at the AZ State Fair. She entered a chocolate cherry cake in the King Arthur Flour Cake competition and took first place! Kim Crapps won 1st place and Best of Show with both her decorated cake entries. Vicki Vasquez also won 1st place with her decorated cake entry.
Discussion was brought up to possibley change the time of month and the day of the week for next year's club meetings. Members did a show of hands and everyone agreed that it shouldn't be a problem to change to the meeting to the first Tuesday of the month. However, final vote will take place in November.
Barbara W, Marianne S, Mike S, Yvette W, Carol A, Paulette K, and Lien Kim N all won prizes the the raffles this month.
September 2009
At the September meeting, Vicki Vasquez discussed annual membership dues that are coming up and due by the October meeting. Fee is $27 per year which includes the annual Christmas dinner. Paulette Karras told us about her time at Cake Camp visiting several famous decorators and she shared samples of Choco Pan fondant with everyone. She spoke about the Christmas party and cookie exchange which will be held on December 7th. Everyone is encouraged to attend the party at the Golden Corral in Mesa. A sign up sheet was passed around for those wishing to attend and for those who would like to participate in the cookie exchange.
Michel Gillette did the first demo on decorating Halloween cupcakes. She made a scarecrow, witch and vampire with fondant and candy accessories. Sherry Cross’ demo was on making webs out of a gummy frosting that is similar to Sugar Veil. She created spider webs and a Halloween themed cake using the webs, sugar skulls, fondant tombstones, roses that were made using a silicone mold and candy bones.

Susan Carberry Classes
Susan’s unique decorating style will delight and amaze you! Take one, two or all three classes.
Class Itinerary Day One:
Student’s will prepare a Styrofoam base and cover with fondant. Hands-one instruction will assist students in creating the scenery and a variety of leaves and flowers. Students will create all the creatures that inhabit this whimsical garden. Lady bugs, caterpillars, butterflies, snails and a marriage of characters that cannot help but make you smile. All components will be combined to finish up this delightful cake.
Class Itinerary Day Two -
Fall Bushel Basket Class- Students will create a small version of Susan’s Fall Bushel Basket cake on styrofoam using rolled fondant. The baskets will contain small pumpkins as well as fall flowers and leaves. You’ll learn various coloring techniques as well as how to create this design for larger cakes. All supplies included.
Halloween Cookies Class- Learn how to create fabulous sugar cookies using rolled fondant and royal icing. The cookies will include a haunted house, candy corn and a pumpkin, witch as well as other designs. All supplies are included, please bring a container to take home your finished cookie samples.

At this month's meeting we had two demos. The first was given by Breanna Kealey who showed us how she created an adorable mini tutu cake. She rolled out stripes of fondant, gathering the edges and layed them around a small rounded cake. She made a bodice by cutting the shape out of fondant, piping details and attaching it to a sucker stick to insert into the cake. She showed off her large tutu cake that won Best in Show at the 4th Annual Cake and Sugar Art Show of Arizona in February.
The second demo was Maricella Rodriguez making a gelatin flower dessert/centerpiece. She had a clear jello mold in a rounded dome pan, then using spoons she inserted them at different angles and dripped colored jello into the openings to make the flower petals and leaves. Kim Crapps spoke about the upcoming classes by Susan Carberry in October. Details are listed above. We had 12 guests attend this month!
Raffle prizes were won by a Maricella, Mike, Marianne and a guest. Paulette spoke about this year's Christmas party. Members decided the party will be held at The Golden Corral in Mesa on Monday, December 2nd.
June 2009
This month's meeting was quite short. No demos but rather discussion about the Nicholas Lodge free demo that many of the members attended earlier that day. Vicki and Carol spoke about techniques learned from Nicholas regarding the new Massa rolled fondant. He also shared how cover cake boards in fondant, stenciling, using silicone molds, impression and texture mats and other tips using fondant in general.
We're hoping to get a pastry chef to come demo her techniques in chocolate at an upcoming meeting. Agnes, Kim, Vicki and BarbaraW each won raffle prizes.

Susan ( The Cake Cottage- http://www.thecakecottage.net/index.php) will be coming back to Glendale, AZ in October ( date to be determined) to teach a two day class making a whimsical, tiered, garden critter themed cake. This month the club members got to do a hands on project making water lillies. June Manchak made kits for everyone with all the supplies needed to create these gum paste flowers. A huge thank you goes out to June for all that time and effort!
Christy Vega won the Cake Challenge for the Cure which was held on May 17th. Vali Lameman placed second and Carol Antes was third. Awesome job on all the cakes!

Cake Challenge for the Cure- Sunday, May 17th

Join us as professional cake decorators demonstrate their talents and creativity when they compete in a cake decorating challenge. After the winner is chosen, their cakes will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
All proceeds benefit the Susan G. Koman for the cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund through the Breast Cancer 3 Day.
Admission is $20 if preregistering or $22 at the door. Admission includes refreshments provided by Country Cottage Cafe and one raffle ticket.

At this month's meeting we were reminded to start collecting and saving any decorating tools, supplies, books, etc for the club's annual raffle which will be held in July. Vicki's demo was on how she created a cross stitch design on a cake using gum paste and royal icing. Barbara W's demo was on making chocolate toppers for cupcakes using molds. And she showed us how she makes a baby cake using Twinkies, a plastic doll face and a baby blanket piped on plastic wrap to drape over the body. Barbara A. won the 50/50 raffle. Carol, Ethel and a guest won various other raffle prizes.

This month's meeting included over 20 members and several guests so we had a great turn out. Christy Vega's demo was on air brushing. She showed the club how to use the air brush, color flowers, plaques and stencil designs. Rachel Calisi's demo was on how to make sugar eggs. She shared how to make the eggs with plastic molds, then colored them with canned food colored spray. Various sugar flowers, figures,grass, etc could be added inside the eggs which were then put together with royal icing. Carol Antes talked about the upcoming cake challenge held by the Breast Cancer Awareness walk and Vicki spoke about the upcoming demo on fondant by Nicholas Lodge. Raffles were won by Michel, Mike, Jeanne, Carol and Yvette.
February 2009
This month was the 4th Annual Cake & Sugar Art Show of Arizona. The show was held on February 7th in Glendale. Seven of our club's decorators entered this year. Carol Antes won 2nd and 3rd place in the professional division and 1st place in the novelty cake category. Kim Crapps won 1st and 2nd place in the semi professional division and 1st place in the tiered cake category. Vicki Vasquez won 3rd place in the semi pro division and 1st place in the novelty category. Liz Harris entered in the semi pro division. Breanna Kealey won 1st place in the advanced division, 1st place in the tiered cake category as well as Best of Show- Adult. Michele Gillette entered cookies in the interemediate division. And Tasha Odell won 1st place in the tiered cake category in the intermediate division. Photos from the cake show can be found online here.
At the meeting, Tasha Odell did a leprechaun hat cupcake demo and Carol Antes did a demo on various items on a baby cake she made. Great job! We had 10 raffle prizes this month that were donated by Christy, Imelda and Theresa. Thanks ladies! Paulette shared that Wilton has a new gum paste flowers class that she'll be teaching at the Michael's store.
